Session Title: Using Neural Networks to Help Kids Survive Eye Cancer

Retinoblastoma (Rb) is one of the most common childhood cancers. The cardinal symptom of Rb is called leukocoria, or "white eye". Leukocoria is often ignored by parents and overlooked by doctors. This leads to late diagnosis of Rb in many children, which greatly decreases survivors' quality of life. We trained deep neural networks to detect this symptom and alert parents when the symptom is found. We've deployed our technology in an iOS app and an Android app, and the app has already lead to some early diagnosis. This work is ongoing.

We'll take you through an interactive look at some of the unique Marketing strategies RVE has found successful and focus on our most recent success with "Pockets," a marketing strategy that launched, spreading our culture throughout Austin businesses. The session will begin with an interactive creative activity followed by an insight into how we develop our marketing strategies along with some examples and a live team brainstorm! Find out how you can use some of these concepts in your own marketing strategies!

Session Title: Surviving a Startup - Is it the Journey that Matters or the End Goal?

New to the startup world? Join cofounders Vi Nguyen and Lan Chu in their coworking space at Capital Factory and see how they're changing the rental game by building a marketplace for month to month rentals. Vi Nguyen and Lan Chu will go in depth about how a simple rental problem became a full time startup and all the challenges, joys, and hard hours involved throughout the process. Suggested audience: Founders, Developers, Media Professionals.
